Calling cards allow you to place your call through a carrier that is different than the one associated with the phone you are using.

To use a calling card you will typically call a local or a toll free number. This connects you to the calling card's carrier. When the call is answered you will enter your access code or PIN number to be recognized as an authorized customer.
